Iva Mae Jensen

Iva Jensen, age 81, of Hendricks, Minnesota passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Hendricks Nursing Home. Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Burial will be at the Hendricks City Cemetery, Hendricks, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Church on Friday. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks is entrusted with the arrangements. Iva Mae Jensen was born on September 24, 1937 in Estelline, South Dakota to parents Dirk and Ida (Franken) Bruinsma. She was the 10th of 11 children and she was raised on the family farm six miles east of Estelline. She was baptized and confirmed at the Christian Reformed Church of Estelline and she graduated from Estelline High School in 1956. Iva Mae was united in marriage to Robert Jensen on September 10, 1957 at the First Lutheran Church in Brookings, SD. To this union they were blessed with their children, John and Donna. For 16 years their family lived in St. Paul, MN where she was a homemaker and a daycare provider. In 1973 they moved to Hendricks, MN to be closer to family. Iva Mae enjoyed music, watching ice skating, new clothes and watching General Hospital. Visiting with family and friends was most enjoyable for Iva Mae. She was known by her grandkids for her Sloppy Joe’s, potato salad, cookies and for playing and reading to her grandchildren. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and was involved in the Ladies Aid. Iva Mae passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019 at the Hendricks Nursing Home at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 9 days. Grateful for having shared Iva Mae’s life are her two children: John (Pam) Jensen of Melrose, MN and Donna (Rick) Jensen of Minneapolis, MN; four grandchildren: Joey (Tessa) Jensen, Laura (Wade) Schwarz, Jessie (Devin) Jensen-Rosenow and Marty Jensen; six great-grandchildren: Brody Zoey, Elliot, Hadley, Harper and Henrik; siblings: Eleanor Wiesner of Sioux Falls, SD and Robert (Roylyn) Bruinsma of Castlewood, SD; sister-in-law, Mary Bruinsma of Clear Lake, SD; special friend and neighbor, Helen Olson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert in 1997; siblings: Jesse, Alvin, Ben, Janet, Stephanie, Art, Lester and Delmar; and one special friend, Loretta Hanson.
