Art McDown

Art Rolland McDown, of Prauge, OK passed away on March 1, 2019, he was 80 years old. Art was born June 24, 1938 in Davidson, OK, to William and Lena McDown Art was a graduate of Capitol Hill High School class of 1957. He attended Oklahoma City University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts. Art worked as a Civil Engineer for Tinker Air Force Base from 1970 until his retirement in 2008 with 37 years of service. He also enjoyed the times he spent with the Trans Mississippi Rifles- Civil War Enactment Group, and participating in a handful of movies and documentaries. Art was preceded in death by his parents, his Father-in-law and Mother in-Law William Shanks and Pat Shanks, a brother Jerry McDown, a brother in-law Mel Shanks, a sister in-law Ruth Shanks, and two infant nephews. Art is survived by his wife Ladelle of the home, his children Debra Caldwell and husband Ken of Richardson, TX, a Son Robert McDown and wife Christi of Edmond, OK, Melissa Peterson and husband Brad of Norman, OK, Jennifer Cooper and husband Willie of Shawnee, His grandchildren Ross and Hannah Owen, Carter and Cole Crabtree, Billy and Quaid McDown, Austin Cooper and wife Meagan, and Payton and Autumn Cooper, one greatgrandchild Eli Cooper , sister Ann Fields and husband James, sister in-law Martha McDown, Brother in-law Lee Shanks, and other nieces and nephews and friends.
