Ms. Patricia Ann DuBose, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this life on April 23, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 11, 1950, in Selma, Alabama, she was the cherished daughter of the late Frank L. DuBose and Winona Childs DuBose.

Patricia accepted Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Bethel AME Church in Selma. She began her education at Knox Elementary and graduated from R. B. Hudson High School, Class of 1968. She continued her academic journey at Bishop College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Political Science in 1972. During her college years, Patricia pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., a sisterhood she treasured throughout her life.

In May of 1972, she married Lonnie Duncan Jr., whom she met while in college. Patricia began her career in education and later found her calling in civil rights advocacy, serving over 20 years as an investigator for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

Later in life, she met and married Avon Franklin. Patricia’s life was marked by her compassion, strength, and deep love for her family and community.  

Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Margaret DuBose, and her brothers Frank L. DuBose Jr. and Eugene DuBose.

She is survived by her three loving children: Brian C. Duncan (Joi), Cory O. Duncan, and Courtney L. Duncan, all of Dallas, Texas.  She was a proud grandmother to Cory Jr., Brandon, Adia, Jordan, and Joshua.  Patricia is also survived by her siblings Virginia Gail (Kenneth Sr.) Robinson of Detroit, MI, Rosemary (Paul) Perkins, Deborah Watkins, Gloria Johnson of Montgomery, AL, Elder Tyrone (Debra) DuBose of Lubbock, TX.  She leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Her legacy of love, service, and resilience will live on in the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services have been scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00AM from the Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Serenity Memorial Gardens with Aubrey Larkin's Lewis Brothers serving with excellence through professional service.
