Karen A. (Simmons) Clough, age 58 of Kingston, passed away on February 27, 2019 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was the beloved mother of Melissa Smith and her husband Robert of Fall River, John Clough and Meghan Clough of Kingston. She was the cherished grandmother of Gemma Clough, Kaley and Layla Smith of Fall River and Joel Darling of Kingston. She was the sister of Bonnie Smith of Wareham, David Simmons of Florida, and Adam Simmons of Plymouth. She is survived by her former husband John Clough. Karen was born on February 10, 1961 in Plymouth to Bernard Simmons and Fern (Nemec) Santos. She was a teacher at Pilgrim Academy in Plymouth for nearly twenty years, where she was loved by her students. Karen had a zest for life and loved to laugh, she was a great friend to all. She enjoyed gardening and was known for having a “green thumb”, she enjoyed shopping, walking along the beach and searching for sea glass. Plymouth Beach was one of her favorite places to visit. Above all Karen, loved and adored her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by all whose lives she touched. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019, 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Church, 272 Main Street, Kingston. The burial will take place immediately following the mass at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Summer Street, Plymouth. A celebration of life will take place following the burial at the Garibaldi Club, 36 Castle Street, Plymouth.
