Joseph Cucciniello of Summit, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Friday, March 1, 2019, at the age of 77. The visitation will be held at Paul Ippolito Summit Memorial, 7 Summit Ave., Summit, NJ on Wednesday, March 6th, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral will take place on Thursday, March 7th beginning in the funeral home at 8:30am followed by the Funeral Mass celebrated at 9:30 am in St. Teresa of Avila Church, on 306 Morriis Ave, Summit. Known to all as Joe (or “Joe the Barber”) he was born in Avellino, Italy to the late Luigi and Vincenzina Cucciniello. He came to the United States in 1957 and settled in Summit, NJ where he has resided since. Joe was the owner and operator of Rocco’s Barber Shop inSummit, NJ, for almost 50 years, the second oldest business in Summit.  Joe supported numerous charitable endeavors of local organizations by donating free haircuts for silent auctions. He also volunteered at Overlook Hospital acting as the Hospital Barber. When his shop was closed on Wednesdays, Joe enjoyed chaperoning his children’s events at school.Joe was very active in downtown Summit and was known and loved throughout the Summit Community. He was a classic car enthusiast and a long-time judge for the Summit Classic Car Show. He was an active member of the Paca Club in New Providence, NJ, and a “Master Gardener,” tending to two plots at Wagner Farms Arboretum in Warren, NJ. He was also proud to be highlighted in the 2004 Summit Calendar fundraiser as “Mr. November.”Joe’s greatest passion was his love for his family. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carmela (nee DeTore) and is survived by his loving children, Louis (Pamela) Cucciniello, Michelle Cucciniello, Natalie (John) Petrides, and Erica (Derek) Clarke; his cherished grandchildren: Michael and Luke Petrides, and Dylan and Jacob Clarke; and his dear siblings, Raffaela Oliviero and Nino Cucciniello.
