Joe Gutierrez, age 95, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Sacramento, California. Born on March 12, 1930, in Marcia, New Mexico. Joe lived a long and fulfilling life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and commitment to his work.  

Joe proudly served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper during the Korean War. His strength and resilience carried through into his civilian life, where he dedicated over 30 years to Laborers Union Local 185 before retiring. His work ethic and perseverance were evident in all that he did.  

Beyond his career and military service, Joe was a man of many passions. He found joy in playing the guitar, drawing and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his family. His gentle nature, kindness, and selflessness left a lasting impact on those who knew him. His laughter and voice will be deeply missed by all who loved him.  

Joe’s legacy lives on through his children—daughters Rachel and Armida, and son Joseph—as well as many grandchildren who carry forward the values and love instilled by his presence. Joe is also remembered by his siblings: brothers Geronimo and Robert, and sister Elvira.

He was preceded in death by his wives Silvia, Angie, and Cecilia; sisters Jessica and Sonia; and brother Vincent.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, at Sunset Lawn Memorial Park located at 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, California 95838. The service will begin at 12:00 PM and conclude at 12:45 PM.

Following the memorial service, a celebration of life will take place from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Robertson Community Center at 3525 Norwood Ave., Sacramento, California 95838. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Joe’s remarkable life.

Joe's legacy of love and strength will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
