Ms. Marietta Laverne Massey, 57, passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at her residence. Born Feb. 5, 1962 in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Massey Jr. and Etta McKenzie Corpening. She was educated in the public schools of Rowan County and was a 1980 graduate of East Rowan High School. A member of New Zion Baptist Church, Salisbury, she served in the Gospel Choir, RPJ Choir, Culinary and Hospitality Committees and assisted with Vacation Bible School. She was employed at PPG Industries as a glass winder from March 7, 1988 until Oct. 1, 2018. She leaves precious and loving memories to her children, Antonio Land, Shaniqua Land and Joshua Land, all of Salisbury; grandchildren, Akieva Land, A'mier Shaffer and Jaceion Williams; brother, Myron (Margaret) Massey of Salisbury; sisters, Melissa Massey, Rita (Reverend Patrick) Jones and Ursula Smith, all of Salisbury and Kimberly Jones of Charlotte; aunts, Jean Lowery of Salisbury, Eva Pulliam of Greensboro and Betty Artis and Virginia Davis, both of Baltimore, Md.; uncle, Thomas Rabb of Salisbury; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
