Donald Dean Shewmaker

Donald Dean Shewmaker, 85, husband of Virginia Lorene Guffey Shewmaker, died Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his home in Nicholasville, Kentucky. He was born at High Bridge, Kentucky on October 4, 1933 to the late John Shewmaker and Gertrude Woods Shewmaker. Donald was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, an US Army Veteran, farmer, trucker driver and former employee of FMC/ Linkbelt, Lexington, Kentucky. He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Bobby) Sams, two granddaughters, Emily (Steven) Heggie and Kayla Sams, sister, Sally Shewmaker Laney, brothers, Tommy, Kenneth (Bonnie) and Jerry (Dayna) Shewmaker and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Evans and brothers, J.D., Marion, Bobby Gene, Treffert and Paul. Joint services for Donald and Virginia will be 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with Bro. Basil Hall, Bro. DeWayne Brewer and Jay Webb officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 AM until time of service Tuesday at the church. Interment will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Betts & West Funeral Home is honored to serve the Shewmaker Family.
