Obituary

Ken E. Goodpasture

67, of Dayton, was called Home by the Lord, Friday, April 11, 2025.

He was born July 29, 1957, in Dayton, to the late Russell S. and Violet J. (Davis) Goodpasture

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his daughter, Billie Jo Goodpasture; brothers, Bucky, Rosco, Meredith, and Clinton Goodpasture; and sisters, Kathy Goble and Nellie Barr.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Wanda; sons, Johnny (Reba) and Wayne (Ashley); daughter, Angel (Richard); 6 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; siblings, Nancy, Russell (Cheri), Bill, John, and Edna; and in-laws, Annie (Chuck), Mary (David), and Barbara.

A true NASCAR enthusiast, Ken never missed a race, and his heart belonged to none other than Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He cheered with passion and pride, his voice rising with the rev of each lap. Sundays were sacred, reserved for fast cars, the Kansas City Chiefs, and — of course — buffalo wings. But let it be known: if there were fewer than ten on the plate, it simply wasn’t enough.

Ken's love for his family ran even deeper than his love for sports. With his granddaughters, he embraced a different kind of fandom, proudly calling himself a “Swifty.” Together, they sang along to Taylor Swift hits, bridging generations through shared joy and sparkling melodies. His spirit was young, his heart wide open, and his ability to connect with those he loved was truly special.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 16 from 11AM to 12PM at PREBLE MEMORY GARDENS FUNERAL CENTER, West Alexandria.  The funeral service will begin at 12PM with Pastor Doug Criswell officiating.
