John Edward Patton, 80 years of age passed from his life on Friday April 15, 2016 at his home in Springfield Missouri.He was born on December 4, 1935, in Maryville, MO, the son of Leland l. and Dorothy Marie ( Nielson ) Patton.

Originally of Barnard, Missouri, a graduate of NWMS he moved to Springfield in 1960 to teach. He was a professor at MSU from 1960 until he retired in 2005.John loved to do woodworking and gardening. and especially loved to watch the weather channel on TV.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.  John is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Jo (Heitman) of the home; three sons, Mark of Springfield, David of Walnut Grove, MO, John of Republic. MO; three daughters, Mary Eileen Patton of Springfield, Susan Patton of Aurora, Colorado, Gina and (John) Thomas of Springfield; six grandchildren and many friends.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 21, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral mass is scheduled for Friday, April 22 2016, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
