Gordon B. Wahlers, 97, of Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Otterbein North Shore Retirement Center in Lakeside, Ohio. He was born on September 18, 1920 in Danbury, Ohio, a son of the late Ludwig and Eda (Bredehoft) Wahlers. He married Betty Corrine Herring on June 14, 1941 who preceded him in death on February 19, 2002. Gordon will always be remembered as a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and active member of the community. Aside from his family, Gordons proudest accomplishment was his life-long career as a fruit farmer in Danbury Township. He attended The College of Agriculture at The Ohio State University and graduated from Bowling Green State University, briefly teaching industrial arts at Port Clinton High School. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Danbury, Ohio, the Ottawa County Farm Bureau, Ottawa County Soil and Water Conservation District, and The Ohio State University Alumni Association. His primary hobbies were restoring Lyman boats and antique tractors, and he was a member of the Lyman Boat Owners Association. Gordon is survived by his sons Russell (Jane) Wahlers of Muncie, Indiana, David (Sally) Wahlers of Port Clinton, Ohio; grandchildren Cara Wahlers (Indianapolis, IN), Gregory Wahlers (Charleston, SC), and Kevin Wahlers (Sandusky, OH). He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, brothers John Wahlers, James Wahlers, and sister Roberta (Wahlers) Culbertson. Visitation will be held at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 541 Church Road, Lakeside-Marblehead, Ohio on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 10:00 am until Funeral Services at 12:00 pm, officiated by Pastor Chris Young. Burial will follow in St. Pauls Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Danbury, Ohio.
