CASTLEWOOD, VIRGINIA – James Roger Edwards, 76, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Heritage Hall, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
He was born in Russell County, Virginia, the son of the late Andrew and Lucile Sims Edwards. Roger was a minister at Golden Homestead, Coeburn, Virginia. He loved sports and fishing, was a coach at the Boys and Girls Club in Kingsport, Tennessee, and was an avid Dobyns Bennett and Pittsburg Steelers fan. Roger loved his family more than anything. He was preceded in death by one son, Matthew Edwards; two sisters, Charlotte Ann Edwards and Carol Meade; and two brothers-in-law, Norman Turner and Oakley Meade.
He is survived by his son, Jeffery Mark Edwards; one brother, Rev. Howard Edwards and wife, Brenda; two sisters, Nancy Turner and Wanda Burke; special friend, TyAnne Porter Compton; and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services for James Roger Edwards will be conducted at a later date.
