George Kotuby Obituary

Brunswick—George Kotuby, age 87, died at his residence in Sunnybrook Village, on November 11, 2015. He was born May 4, 1928 in Proctor, Vt., the son of George and Mary Glagola Kotuby. He was a graduate of Rutland High School and Bryant College, RI. Upon graduation, he entered into service with the United States Army, stationed in New York City. Within that time he was introduced to his wife, Dorothy Carswell. The couple was married in Florida in 1954. Mrs. Kotuby died in 2009. George was employed with Prudential Insurance, Newark, NJ until his retirement at the age of 58, when he and his wife relocated to the Brunswick area. While here the couple continued their volunteer work of over 100 years with the American Red Cross, from which Mr. Kotuby’s involvement ended in 2014 with a celebration officiated by Sen. Angus King. Mr. Kotuby loved Bailey Island and the people and was active in many things during his time there. He was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Brunswick, and All Saints Chapel, Orr’s Island. Mr. Kotuby was also a member of the American Legion, Post 171, Harpswell. He is survived by a son Randy Kotuby and his wife Amy of Rahway, NJ; a daughter, Janice Kotuby and her husband John Williams of Beacon, NY; a grandson, Jeffrey Kotuby of Rahway, NJ. A funeral service will be held Friday, November 20th at 3:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 27 Pleasant Street, Brunswick.
