Francis E Garrison Obituary

Francis E. Garrison, Jr. (known as Butch), was born March 22, 1943 in Jersey City, NJ (lived the last 31 years in Middletown, NJ), sadly passed away on Monday, January 28th, 2019 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, NJ. Formerly employed by the Jersey City Print, Onyx Chemical (Jersey City), was retired from Consolidated Rail Corp (Conrail), which he worked for 30+ years as a brakeman, yardman, lead Forman and Safety Committee (Kearny, East End Division and Oak Island). He enjoyed collecting: stamps, plates, coins, trains (especially old locomotives), collectible cars (1950's styles) and sports memorabilia (he was a lifelong Yankee's fan) and watching old movies from the 1930's - early 1950's (his favorite channel was TCM). Frank also loved the water, boats, crabbing, fishing, train rides and was an avid music lover of light jazz, big band, 1940's swing, 1950's doo wop, with Frank Sinatra and Barbara Streisand being 2 of his favorite singers. His other passion was genealogy and ancestry research which he was involved with for many years, working alongside his brother James (Jimmy) and his sister Anne (Bunny), with a publication in summer of 2013 of the "Garrison Family Tree Book" (a copy is listed in the Library of Congress, Washington D.C.). Always smiling, he was known to be a jokester and liked to tease, play pranks on his friends and family from time to time, something that many will cherish. All that knew him said he was a true gentleman, kind hearted, loved life, his family and would go out of his way to help and be there for anyone who needed him; he will be sadly missed by all. Frank was predeceased by his beloved wife, Kathleen (whom he missed dearly); parents Francis E., Sr. and Margaret; his sister's Anne (Bunny) and Janice; brother Robert (Gabby) and son in law John Young. Survived by his children: daughter's Patricia, and Michelle Young; son's Michael (wife Jacqueline), Matthew and Daniel; grandchildren: Jeremy Jaryno (wife Estelle) and Alyssa Young; sister's Lorraine Nordquist, Evelyn Hrunka (husband Joseph), Catherine Tourtillott (husband Mark) and sister in law Joan; brother's James (wife Sabina), William (wife Midge), John and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

"No one will ever die as long as they are remembered...." Butch, September 11th, 2016
