Robert Madison van de Steeg, 69, died September 26, 2018. He was born November 24, 1948, and predeceased by his father John P. van de Steeg, Sr. (2-18-1996),age 79; his mother Alma Madison van de Steeg (6-26-2007),age 89; And his brother Gerrit I. van de Steeg (2-24-2010),age 61. Survived by wife: Sawittree Fendee; three step children, Linda Fendee, Ning Fendee, Bobby Fendee; one granddaughter Peach Fendee; five siblings: Beth v. Timberlake (Bob), John P. van de Steeg, Jr., Ann C. van de Steeg (Britt Laughlin), Richard J. van de Steeg Sr., Thomas M. van de Steeg; nieces and nephews: Caren, Tray, Stephen, Lauren, Evan, Cheri, Richard Jr. , John Blake; Great nieces and nephew: Chelsea, Alicia, Kristin, Billy, and Kendall; Great Great nieces and nephew: Camille, Vivianna, Gavin, Ava Ann. He received his Bachelor degree in Psychology at USF, Tampa, Fl. Graduated From Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, Fl. He also attended Bishop Barry High School and St. Pauls Elementary School, St. Petersburg. He served several years as an alter boy at St. Pauls Catholic Church. Born in Nampa, Idaho his family moved to Philadelphia right after he turned two in 1950. He attended 1st & 2nd grades in Glenolden, Pa. where he and his family lived until moving to St. Petersburg, Florida the summer of 1956. Robert who also went by Bob and Bobby was an accomplished athlete in his youth - as a swimmer, diver, gymnast and flying trapeze artist. Excelled in various creative activities including painting and design. He enjoyed traveling, lived both in Orlando, Florida and in Thailand with his wife and children. He worked in the hospitality industry based in Orlando, Florida. Married since 11-21-1986. He loved his wife Sa deeply as well as her children whom he raised as his own. Services will be 11:00 AM Sunday, October 28th at Brett Funeral Home.
