Louise Rhodes Bowers

Louise Rhodes Bowers, age 80, of Hays, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Wilkes Regional Medical Center. She was born May 7, 1937 in Wilkes County to Otto Lonnie and Mamie Whitley Rhodes. Louise loved spending time with her sisters and grandchildren. Mrs. Bowers was a member of Bethel Baptist Church; and retired after 36 years from Gaddy Motor Company as office manager. She was preceded in death by her parents; and step father, Burton England. Surviving are her husband, Edward Bowers; daughter, Sharon Alexander and husband Chuck of Taylorsville; son, Michael Bowers and wife Kendra of Kernersville; brothers, Junior Rhodes and wife Geraldine, Wayne Rhodes and wife Betty all of Hays; sisters, Marie Byrd and husband Minor, Nancy Eller and husband Kenneth all of Hays, Dallie Lackey of North Wilkesboro, Mary Huie and husband Yale, Judie Sebastian and husband Dwight, Athena Shumate and husband Gary, Teresa Carter all of Hays; and grandchildren, Bobby Alexander, Connor Alexander both of Taylorsville, Ethan Bowers, Kenly Bowers and Kalen Bowers all of Kernersville. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Donnie Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Bethel Baptist Church from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.
