It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rosanne (Rose) Margaret Wallace on March 20, 2025, at the age of 33. Rosanne was born on October 8,1991 in Trail, BC, to Corinne Bryden and Lawrence Wallace.
Rosanne is survived by her twin sister Rhiannon Wallace, her brother Jesse Wallace, her parents Corinne Bryden and Lawrence Wallace, her grandma Louise Bryden and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rosanne grew up in Fruitvale, BC where she attended Fruitvale Elementary School, Beaver Valley Middle School and later graduated from J.L. Crowe in Trail, BC in 2009. An athlete from a young age, she grew up competing against her twin sister in everything from Figure Skating, Basketball, Track and Field, but most importantly Ice Hockey. In school Rose excelled in P.E. and woodworking, receiving numerous awards. A true handywoman, there was no project that Rose couldn’t tackle. Her younger years were spent on their family’s farm in Columbia Gardens and many hours working in the Vineyard or running the tasting room of the family’s winery. Summers were spent on the water or around the campfire at Christina lake.
Rose was passionate about music, hockey, fitness and spending time with her fur fam, Ember, Arlo and Toulouse. A true sports fanatic, whether it be supporting the local hockey clubs, NHL, World juniors, Tennis, March Madness or Baseball, Rose’s sports knowledge and collection of autographed sports memorabilia was second to none. She was a die-hard Roger Federer and Detroit Red Wings fan. Rose was a dedicated volunteer who was always willing to share her knowledge and passion for hockey. She played a significant role in coaching the Wildcats and established “Between the Pipes Goalie Academy” in Trail, BC helping aspiring goalies develop their skills and confidence. As a goalie at heart, Rose’s influence on the Kootenay hockey community was profound.
Rose obtained a diploma in Psychiatric Nursing in 2015 from Stenberg College and completed a Bachelor of Health Science in 2019 through Thompson Rivers University. Rose always wanted to help others and was drawn to the mental health field. Rose was employed with Interior Health since 2012 and worked at the Daly Pavilion at the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital until her passing. Although Rose was known to those close to her as quiet, she was an advocate for stopping the stigma around mental health.
A celebration of life will be held on May 31, 2025, at 2:00 pm in the Victoria room at the Cominco Arena. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to the Rose Wallace Memorial Scholarship to help honor Rosanne’s hockey legacy. Donations can be made through GoFundMe https://gofund.me/7dbdf031. Ali Butts of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
