Leo Broermann, age 96, born in Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, strength, and unwavering love.
He is predeceased by his parents, six siblings, his wife Sandy Broermann and his grandson Nicholas Broermann. He is survived by his six children: Greg Broermann (Kitty), Cindy Haines (Bob), Terri Shapiro (Rick), Robert Broermann (Renee), Nancy Mapp (Rick) and Scott Broermann (Tammy). He is also survived by ten grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. His family was the heart of his world, and he took immense joy in their achievements and happiness.
Leo made his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where he built a life filled with cherished memories, deep friendships, and a profound appreciation for the simple joys of life. He was deeply attentive to the people in his life, always taking the time to know and care for not only his loved ones but also their friends, colleagues, and extended family. His ability to connect with others left a lasting impact, and his warmth, resilience, and boundless love will live on for generations to come.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, April 5, at 11 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 520 Graydon Avenue, Norfolk, VA with a brief reception to follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to Catholic Relief Charities, P.O. Box 5200, Hartland, IA 51593-0700, continuing his legacy of generosity and faith.
