Willy Douglas Obituary

Wilma Douglas, beloved wife, mom, grandma and great grandma, died March 20, 2025, in Albany, age 91.

Wilma Carolyn Adams was born May 7, 1933 in Junction City to Vic and Bertha Adams. She graduated from Junction City High School and went to work for the telephone company in Eugene where a co-worker arranged a date with her handsome brother. Willy married that brother, James Douglas, on July 19, 1953 in Junction City.

Willy and Jim lived in Eugene, Cottage Grove, and Coos Bay before moving to Albany, where they lived most of their lives. She was a homemaker who loved to bake for her family and friends. She never missed her kids’ or grandkids’ school or sports events. She played sidekick to Jim’s wild sense of humor. They were devoted to each other and their big family. Jim preceded her in death on February 24, 2020.

Willy is survived by her daughter Nancy (Rich) Mitchell; son Steve (Joy) Douglas; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to Jim, their son Jerry preceded her in death, as did her sister Nina and brothers Jimmie and Marion.

A private burial ceremony is planned at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, where she will join Jim. Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
