Carson Wilcher Banks Sr., of Crofton, MD, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the age of 97.

Born on May 10, 1927, in Jenkinjones, West Virginia, Carson was the beloved son of the late French Augustus Banks and Mamie Sue Mankins Banks.

A proud veteran, Carson served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and the Vietnam Era, dedicating his life to the service of his country. After retiring from the service, he was employed by the US Military Academy at West Point and was an entrepreneur of Banks Refrigeration in Montgomery, NY.

Carson was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was an accomplished racquetball player, earning medals in the Sr. Olympics and enjoyed the game for many years.

He was preceded in death by his cherished wives, June Banks, mother of their four children, and Dorothy Green Banks.

Carson leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his devoted children daughter Linda Stevens (Daniel Stevens, preceded in death), daughter Gwen Mays (George Mays), son Carson W. Banks Jr.(Jeanne Banks), and daughter Freida Renee Jemison (Troy Jemison). He was a cherished grandfather to Daniel L. Stevens Jr., Toya Whitten, French A. Mays, Tianna Banks, Carson W. Banks III, Austin Banks, Tenner Banks, Drew Jemison, and Courtney Jemison.

Carson was also a great grandfather and is survived by numerous brothers and sisters; Ellsworth Banks, Earnest Banks, Willa Duck, Eugenia Owens, Athalene Elliott, Greta Vaught, Billy C. Banks Sr., Mary Coleman and Twyman Banks.

Cremation will take place privately. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the American Diabetes Association or American Cancer Society.

A graveside service will be held at Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery, NY, April 3, 2025, at 11:00am.  A repast will immediately follow.
