Sheu Soon Wong, 88, passed peacefully on March 20, 2025 with his loving wife, family and friends by his side in the comfort of his sweet home in Virginia Beach, VA. He is survived by Ping Wong his devoted wife of 57 years, and his three children Richard Wong and his wife Jen Ting, Judy Lim and her husband Alan, Daisy Maducdoc and her husband Edwin; along with 6 grandchildren Esther & Gabriel Wong, Joshua & Eric Lim, Christian & Andrew Maducdoc, and Godson Yuen Tsang. As well as numerous nephews and nieces among the relatives. Arthur and David Wong are his brothers who are predeceased and a sister.
Second son of the late Park & Quen Wong was born on November 20, 1936 in Canton, China. Sheu Wong and his brothers were raised most of the time by their caring grandmother with financial support from their grandfather. The entire family endured many challenges imposed on them during World War II and fortunately were able to immigrate to the United State of America to begin a new journey towards a future of prosperity.
The name Edward is well known among his relatives and friends in the Hampton Roads business community. During his teenage years and most of his adulthood, he worked many long hard hours in the family business at the Chinese American Norfolk Noodle Factory distributing supplies to numerous restaurants locally and along the southeastern seaboard. He enjoys perfecting delicious Chinese cuisine which led him to become a successful restaurant entrepreneur opening and operating full-service restaurants to fast food eateries in various shopping mall locations. He is handy with his tools to perform necessary repairs around the restaurant, house, and other properties. He also generously volunteers his time to assist other people as a handyman.
Mr. Wong has a natural talent for visual arts and music at a young age. He created canvas paintings and ceramic sculptures that are aesthetically pleasing to the eye of the beholder as his masterpieces are displayed at the oceanfront boardwalk art shows. He takes great pleasure in playing music from his vast collection of harmonica, especially traditional religious hymns. He has performed in local festivals and on holidays at church. Families, relatives, and friends enjoy the sound of music from his harmonica. From spring to autumn, he is joyful in the labor to grow and maintain his gardens at home. He is passionate about his front and backyard gardens, finding gratification at the sight of colorful flower blossoms as well as harvesting fruits and vegetables. He and his wife would share the fruitful harvest with their neighbors and friends at church.
After retirement from more than 30 years in the restaurant business, he and his wife are finally able to travel around the world and spend quality time with the family. They find spiritual peace as Sunday approaches to attend and participate in church. They are devoted to each other and family until that faithful day we all meet in heaven with Jesus Christ.
The family welcomes viewing visitation on Sunday morning beginning at 11:00 A.M. one hour prior to the memorial service to honor and celebrate his life will begin at 12:00 P.M. in the Tidewater Chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home in Norfolk, VA on March 30, 2025.
