Richard L. Sheffey Obituary

Richard L. Sheffey, 73, of Auburn, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Auburn Community Hospital. Born and raised in Auburn, he was the son of the late Richard E. and Mary Jane (Massaro) Sheffey.

  Richard was a proud United States Air Force veteran who served his country faithfully and honorably. Following his military service, he was employed for many years at both the former General Electric Company and McQuay International, both located in Auburn. In addition to his career in manufacturing, Rich was a talented artisan who owned and operated Sheff-Links, a jewelry-making business known for its craftsmanship and quality.

  A man of many talents and interests, Richard was known for his sharp mind and love of strategy. He was an accomplished chess player who often played multiple games at once. He also enjoyed games like RISK and Pinochle, was an avid reader, and cheered on the Jacksonville Jaguars with unwavering loyalty. Rich found joy in the simple things and made it a priority to stay involved in his children's lives and activities.

  He is survived by his two children, daughter Jennifer (Timothy) Naylor and son Richard E. Sheffey; four grandchildren, Isabella, Emberlynne, Ricky, and Morgan; five siblings, Judy Coll, Tom Sheffey, Robert Sheffey, Mike Massaro, and Mary (Bob) Villano; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

  In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by his sister, Charlene Raynor.

  In accordance with Rich’s wishes, no services will be held.
