David Richard Arthur, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away in Novi, Michigan on March 20, 2025. Born on May 28, 1946, in Garden City, Michigan, David's life was lived with love and dedication to his family, his profession, and the enjoyment of his relationships and hobbies after his retirement.
For 57 years, David was the loving husband of Rita Arthur. Together, they provided a warm home for their children Mike, Christy (married to Phillip Wilson), and Tim (married to Holly). David's role as a father was characterized by unwavering support and guidance, qualities that he also extended to his cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Amanda, Ethan, Abigail, Cadence, Caleb, Cailyn, Addison, and Keegan, as well as his great-grandchildren, Rosie and Ted.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Gertrude Arthur, and his brother, John. The absence of these loved ones served to deepen his commitment to cherishing every moment with his family and friends around him.
Professionally, David was a dedicated member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 80. His career was marked by hard work, integrity, and a reputation for excellence.
David's interests and hobbies were a reflection of his love for life and the people in his life. Whether it was golfing with his friends, spending time with friends at church, or a simple meal out with family or friends, he enjoyed the activity, the company, and the experiences. His dog, Teddy, was a constant loving companion. David also thoroughly enjoyed many moments spent watching his grandchildren's performances and sports events, his presence a constant source of encouragement and pride.
A private family memorial will be held at a later time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any desire to contribute be directed to the Michigan Humane Society in his honor. Ways to contribute or otherwise get involved can be found online at <https://www.michiganhumane.org/10-ways-to-get-involved/>.
