George A. Kurth Obituary

George Albert Kurth entered his heavenly home on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the age of 90.

George was the third of five children born in Milwaukee to George C. and Lydia Kurth. He had a challenging childhood, being orphaned at the age of 9. He lived seven years at the Wisconsin Lutheran Children's Home with his brother, Bob, and then with various relatives. He had a playful nature as a boy, pulling pranks and getting into mischief with his brother and cousins. He loved building model planes and keeping fish. He graduated in 1953 from Lutheran High School in Milwaukee. He went on to proudly serve three years in the US Army as a vehicle mechanic stationed at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas.

In 1964, he married Joanne Mosgaller who would be his wife for 56 years until her passing in 2020. They would settle down on a beautiful wooded property in Slinger, which they both loved and gave them the space to raise their family.

George was a hard worker and supported his family as a semi driver. He retired after 37 years with Bultman Trucking. He made sacrifices so that his family would have a good life including putting his four children through Lutheran schools. He loved kids and gave his own children a childhood filled with camping trips, fishing trips, motorcycle rides and all kinds of outdoor adventures. He had a huge vegetable garden and enjoyed raising poultry and cutting wood for his wood stove. He was mechanically inclined and the family’s “MacGyver”, able to fix almost anything with his own hands and the tools from his garage. He had a witty personality and made us laugh with his quick one-liners. He was known for his many amusing expressions. He was a devout Christian and never missed a Sunday service, no matter how bad the weather.

George was the devoted father of Kevin, Carrie (Ray) Kunkel, Connie (Randy) Bloch, and Kimberly (Jerry) Wachs. He loved his six grandchildren, Justin and Caleb Kurth, Tony and Eric Kunkel, Crystal (Robert) Trice, and Grady Wachs, and two great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Emitt Trice. Survived by his brother, Bob (Myle) Kurth and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and sisters, Bette Kiedrowicz, Shirley Yaeger, and Judy Rom.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29th at Peace Lutheran Church, 1001 Center Street, Hartford at 12 pm with Pastor Pasbrig presiding. Family will greet relatives and friends from 10:30 am until time of service. Interment in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Peace Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Pastor Pasbrig and the staff of both Serenity Villa and Lily Hospice for their outstanding care in Dad’s final days.
