HOULTON, MAINE – Christopher Roy Holmes, 53, born September 11, 1971, to Walter and Marjorie (Campbell) Holmes in Houlton, Maine, went peacefully to his Heavenly home on March 20, 2025, with family by his side after a courageous battle with BVFTD and ALS at Clover Healthcare Nursing Home in Auburn, Maine.
Chris grew up in Hodgdon and graduated from Hodgdon High School. He worked several different jobs but spent most of his career in the customer service industry. Growing up, he traveled with his family throughout New England and Canada as part of the Walter Holmes Family Gospel Music Group. He sang with his father and siblings on the radio as part of the “Sunshine Boys,” which debuted in the early '70s. Chris was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed, no matter what the request might have been. He was usually found singing, playing his bass guitar, or running the soundboard at Bridgewater Full Gospel Assembly.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn (Katie) Holmes; two children, his daughter MarleyJoy and son Blaze, all of Houlton. Family members include Timothy and his wife, Vanessa, of Herman; Richard and his wife, Sara, of Bridgewater; Ralph and his wife, Chantelle, of Eddington; Daniel of Glenburn; Peter and his wife, Belinda, of Houlton; Wanda St. Peter and her husband, Gary, of Corinth; sister-in-law Melody of Belfast; sister-in-law Connie Holmes of Canada; and brother-in-law David Izzo of Houlton; father- and mother-in-law Rev. Stephen and Donna Izzo of Houlton; special friends Wayne and Marlene Watson of New Limerick and Dan and Cathy-Jo Moreau of Monticello; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Terry and Randy.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Chris at Mars Hill Full Gospel Assembly with calling hours from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday March 27, with service following immediately after with Revs. Wesley Faloon and Stephen Izzo officiating. Interment will be at a later date. A time of sharing and fellowship will follow the service immediately in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers (due to flower allergies), contributions can be made in Chris’s name to Katie and the kids or Bridgewater Full Gospel Assembly, c/o Bowers Funeral Home, 10 Water St., Houlton, Maine 04730.
