Patricia Anne (“Pat”) Hill of Bethesda, MD passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 20, 2025, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Pat was born on December 26, 1936, in Washington, DC, the only child of John and Edith (Jackson) Lynch. She graduated from Immaculata Preparatory School and earned a bachelor’s degree in English at the College of Notre Dame of Maryland where she was lovingly attended to by the Sisters of Notre Dame.
She met Kenneth (“Ken”) Richard Hill (1932-2003) in high school and married him after graduating college. They settled in Potomac, MD to raise their family - their welcoming home in Fox Hills was often filled with neighbors, friends and extended family members, many of whom considered her a second mother. Pat and Ken were active members of Our Lady of Mercy parish and volunteered with the Missionaries of Charity; Pat was also an active member of the Ladies Sodality at Mercy.
Pat loved the beach and made annual family vacations there a priority, usually inviting friends along. She taught preschool at Bethesda Nursery School throughout the 1980s. She remained in Potomac until after Ken’s death, when she moved to Bethesda. Throughout her entire life, she maintained an unwavering faith in God and the catholic church.
Left to cherish her memory are devoted children Christopher Samuel Hill and wife Elaine of Burtonsville, MD; Susan Anne Wade and husband Jerome of Lake Lotawana, MO; Michael Emory Hill and wife Irene of Herndon, VA; and Kelley H. Garcia-Hidalgo and husband Rex of Bethesda, MD; grandchildren Jessica Saul (Andy), Samantha Richardson (Chris), Kenneth C. Hill (Sydney); Kelley Ann Cole (Eric), Daniel, Andrew and Morgan Wade; Tara Van Zoeren (Chris), Michael Hill, Jr., Augustine Hill (Katie), Sheila and Nora Hill; Griffin, Rafe and Vaughn Garcia-Hidalgo; and great-grandchildren Jackson Saul, Isaac Cole, Luke and Martha Van Zoeren, and Clare Hill. Also surviving are her dear nephews Tom and Scott Crews (Vickie) and their families.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 27 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Ave., Bethesda, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, March 28 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 7500 Pearl St., Bethesda.
