Mary Holm, 81, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Services will be 1:30 PM on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Deacon Joe Coleman officiating. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM on Tuesday, at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services Chapel in Fort Dodge.
Mary Ellen Wiese, the daughter of Clarence and Dorothy (Hood) Wiese, was born on June 22, 1943, in Fort Dodge. She grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from St. Edmond’s High School in 1962. On October 27, 1962, Mary was united in marriage to Cecil Holm, and together they made their home in Fort Dodge. Mary worked at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge for 26 years in the dietary department and retired in 1993.
She is survived by her three daughters, Julie Eslick of Phoenix, AZ, Karen Beenken of Clarion, IA, and Linda Echevarria (Chico) of Fort Dodge, IA; six grandchildren, Samantha Eslick, Anthony Welter, Mariah Echevarria, Katie Eslick, Alec Echevarria, Taylor Beenken and ten great grandchildren. She is also survived by her three sisters, Betty Pieper of Marshalltown, Jeanine Schuster of Humboldt, and Donna Hjelmeland of Webster City. Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Cecil on February 8, 2013, her parents, and her brother Gary Wiese.
Mary enjoyed going on shopping trips with her sisters, spending time at the casino, doing crossword puzzles, and in her younger years she enjoyed bowling. Most of all Mary loved spending time with her grandchildren and her family.
