Margaret Burrell Stephens, 77, of Tewksbury, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Township, NJ, surrounded by her loved ones.
Born on March 19, 1948, in Somerset, NJ, Margaret was the daughter of the late Leon and Violet Rose (Paetzold) Burrell. She was a lifelong resident of Tewksbury and a devoted member of Fairmount Presbyterian Church, where her faith played a central role in her life.
Margaret found joy in horseback riding and working on the family farm in her younger years. She had a deep appreciation for nature, which was reflected in her passion for gardening and birdwatching. As an avid gardener, she dedicated her time to organizing the annual plant sale at her church, fostering both community spirit and a love for the outdoors.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert T. Benz; his son, Robert, and wife, Lillie-Ann, along with their children, Charlene and James; as well as her devoted daughter, Jennifer L. Plut, and her husband, Peter, and their daughters, Erika, Carissa, and Angelina. Margaret was preceded in death by her first husband, Gary Robert Stephens, in 1991, and her brother, Carl Burrell in 2022.
Margaret's Life Celebration will include a memorial gathering at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 4 at Fairmount Presbyterian Church. Interment will take place at a later date at Fairmount Cemetery in Tewksbury, NJ.
