Edward Clarke Felton, Jr. of Medfield passed away March 20, 2025 in Needham. Ted was born in Boston and raised in Needham. He was the son of Edward C. and Caroline M. (Kaiser) Felton.
Ted was a graduate of The Choate School in Wallingford, CT. He earned a BA in Economics from Denison University in Granville, OH, and his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also went on to earn his CFA designation.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, stationed at Fort Lee in Virginia.
He was a Master Mason of Moses Michael Hays Lodge A.F. & A.M., Needham, a 32° member of the Valley of Boston Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, and a Noble of Aleppo Shriners, Wilmington.
Ted spent his entire career in the investment industry. He began at Rhode Island Hospital Trust Company, followed by Boston Old Colony Insurance Company. He then spent 49 years at Woodstock Corporation in Boston where he was an Investment Analyst, eventually becoming Vice President. In later years he served as their Head Equity Trader. He truly enjoyed his work. He was a well-liked and respected colleague; many would seek him out for financial advice or just a chat at his doorway, and looked forward to the limericks he would deliver at their annual holiday party. They appreciated his dry wit and humor.
In earlier years, Ted spent time deep-sea fishing and golfing with friends. He loved gardening, and every year grew an organic vegetable garden in the backyard — he thoroughly enjoyed indulging in and sharing the products of his labor, especially the tomatoes and cucumbers. He was an avid reader, with a particular interest in World War II history. He was always active around the house and yard with projects. Most of all, he loved being with his family, eating out together at restaurants, and in recent years watching his grandsons at play. He was always generous with his time and guidance.
Ted is survived by his wife of 51 years Judith (Russell) Felton; his daughter Jennifer Bhujle (Nihal Bhujle) of Glen Ridge, NJ; and his son Edward James Felton (Sheryl Bowley) of Norfolk, MA. He was the proud grandfather of grandsons Devin Bhujle and Sachin Bhujle, and was looking forward to the arrival of his Felton grandson due this spring.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28th at 11am at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, followed by burial at Vine Lake Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Thursday, March 27th 4-6pm, also at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS.org), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (giving.bilh.org), or a charity of one’s own choosing.
