It’s with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Irene J. Berdel, an extraordinary woman, the true epitome of a mother and nanny, whose love, kindness, and wisdom touched the lives of everyone who knew her. She was more than a mother, she was her entire family’s guiding light, a protected haven, and the very heart of her family.
Her love was unconditional, sacrifices immeasurable and strength unshakable.
She gave endlessly, not out of obligation; however, from the deepest well of devotion. Her hands held us through our hardest days, her laughter lifted our spirits, and her wisdom shaped who we are today.
She taught us the power of kindness, the act of giving, the magnificence of resilience, and the importance of love in all things. Whether through quiet encouragement; however, mostly through fierce protection, she made sure we knew we were cherished beyond measure.
Irene enjoyed gatherings with her eccentric family; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; penny parties and thrifting (especially with her beloved great grandson Kanon); shopping; her time at Velvet Cloake; Facebook; dining out; buying diamonds for herself for her husband’s birthday, and keeping us laughing until literally, her last breath.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit remains in every lesson she taught, every recipe she shared, and every hug, kiss or eye roll that she gave. Her legacy is one of intense love and her impact will echo for generations.
Irene Berdel was survived by her 5 children; Joe (Debbie), Debbie, Kathy, Heady & Lisa (Bob); her 12 grandchildren, Joey (Andrea), Brian (Anna), Cara, Samantha, Ashley, Kevin, Julia (Dan), Lexi, Billy, Mikey, Kristi (Jay), and Fabio Jr. (Kimmy); plus her 16 great grandchildren, Tommy, Braydon, Quinn, Odin, David, Alexis, Jada, Dylan, Jackson, Liam, Lyric, Kanon, Treble, Izzy, Malakai, and Theo.
Irene meets our great Lord in heaven along with her husband Joe, mother Florence, father Morris, and stepdad George.
To the greatest mother and nanny of all time: Thank you will never be enough. We love you and we will carry your love in our hearts for eternity.
Rest peacefully, until we meet again!
