Marilyn Roy, 76, of Swansea, IL, passed peacefully at her home on Thursday, March 20th surrounded by her family.

Marilyn retired  after 33 years from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville, Il. There she worked as an AID in the ICU, outpatient recovery, and then centralized scheduling.  She really enjoyed watching her Game shows on TV and  challenging those who watched with her. She loved to be at the lake riding on the boat with her family or sitting around playing cards with the guys. Anyone who knew her would know how loving and genuine she was. She truly loved all of her family and those we have invited in as well. We are so very thankful as a family that we could bring her home and allow her to enjoy her last days with the ones she loved the most.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. “Bob” Roy; her parents, Clyde and Eva, nee DeVillez Horner; and her brother, William “Bill” Horner.

Marilyn is survived by her 3 daughters, Paula “Susie” Smith of Swansea, IL, Shelly (James) Kneedler of Swansea, IL, and Rhonda (James “Tim”) Manly of Fairview Heights, IL; her grandchildren, Jamie Smith, Kaylyn (Dennerick) Morgan, Kelsey Kneedler, Kierstin Kneedler, Aimee, Ashlee, and  A.J. Manly; Nine great grandchildren, Cobi, Kody, Kaydee, Zander, Kole, Ryan, Colten, Tydus,  and Lily Grace. She has 2 brothers, Jim (Jackie) Horner of St. Louis, MO, and Larry (Vickie) Horner of Trenton, IL; and her sister-in-law, Kim Horner of Jackson, MO.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at Kassly Mortuary, Ltd., Fairview Heights, IL., with Jermaine Smith officiating.
