Douglas Lynn Oyer, 69, Gardner, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at New Life Church, 29200 W. 188th St., Gardner, Kansas. A private graveside service will be held at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Kansas. Doug was born March 18, 1956 in Ottawa, Kansas to Wesley Dwight and Barbara Nadine (Hoover) Oyer. He grew up in Gardner and graduated from Gardner High School in 1974. Doug married Janis “Jan” Claire Hedrick on June 23, 1984 in Gardner, Kansas.  He worked for the public safety department at Johnson County Community College as an Access Control Coordinator. When he was younger, Doug worked for his family’s businesses, Oyer Super Saver and Big O in Gardner. He was also a volunteer firefighter for 15 years. Doug liked watching football and attended many air shows in Florida and Wisconsin. He also loved going on motorcycle trips with his wife, Jan, and their friends. Above all, he cherished time with his family and never missed his children’s sporting events.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Steve Oyer, Lanita Oyer and Roger Oyer.  He is survived by his wife Jan of the home; daughters Andrea (Austin) Williams, Baldwin, Kansas and Sydney Oyer, Salina, Kansas; sister Denise (Mike) Chambers, Gardner, Kansas and grandchildren Jaxson and Lainie Williams.
