Annie Kate Flinn Obituary

OBITUARY

Sis. Annie Kate Flinn, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home, on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

Annie Kate was born on May 25, 1947, in Brownsville, Tennessee. She was raised by her mother Beatrice Currie Rucker and stepfather James (“Gene”, “Gino”) Rucker. Annie Kate lived in Brownsville during most of her earlier years as a child. Annie Kate accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age and was baptized at the Hickory Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tennessee.

Annie Kate moved to Decatur and joined the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in 1964 during the first Church service after being officially organized. She was a Charter member of the Usher Board. During her tenure at Ebenezer she also served as a member of the Mission Society and worked on the Kitchen Committee for many years. She remained a loyal and faithful member until her death.

She attended the St. Peter Elementary School and Carver High School for several years before relocating to Decatur. After relocating, she attended Douglas MacArthur High School and graduated in 1965.

After graduation Annie joined the world of work at Bachrach’s Clothing Store as an Alterations Specialist. She later took a position at Marvel Schebler factory. Her final place of employment before retirement was at CHELP as a Caregiver, retiring after working in that position for over 20 years bringing peace and comfort through her jovial spirit to those not able to care for themselves.

Annie Kate was united in Holy Matrimony to Robert “Big Flinn” Flinn on May 25, 1968. They were married for almost 35 years when he passed on February 3, 2003. To this union three children were born Jackqueline, Marcus and Chastity, and they legally adopted one of their granddaughters, Infiniti.

Annie Kate leaves to cherish her loving memories: her children, Jackqueline (Virgil) Foreman of Florissant, MO, Marcus Flinn and Infiniti (Byron) Young of Decatur, IL; two bonus children, Robert “Pee Wee” Jefferson and Tina Flinn of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Savin Bradford, Marc Flinn, Maranda Flinn, Ashland Adams, Markayla Flinn, Markya Flinn and Anijah Ulmer; mother in-law, Elnora Flinn of Decatur, IL; special friends Jill Jones, Muriel Jones, Leara Evans, Evonne Robinson and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends whom she loved dearly.

Annie Kate was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter Chastity Flinn, sisters, Alma Palmer & Dorothy Bond, one grandson, Chevis Bond, and one special nephew, Preston “Bud” Bates.

We know our Heavenly Father does not make any mistakes and we bow in humble submission, accepting His will in calling Annie Kate home.

She will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved her.
