David Allan Tiedeman, age 84, of Bolingbrook, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 20, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on September 11, 1940, in East St. Louis, Illinois, Dave was the son of Louis and Lucille (Herman) Tiedeman.
Dave graduated from Parks College with a master’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering. He went on to have a successful career as an Avionics Engineer with McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell Collins, where he made significant contributions to the field and earned the respect of his colleagues.
Dave met the love of his life, Carol in a bowling alley in Belleville, Illinois. They spent many happy years together in Ballwin, Missouri, and Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dave enjoyed traveling and discovering new places throughout his life. His love for the ocean was strong and led him and Carol to retire in South Carolina. In Bluffton, they enjoyed 23 years in the Lowcountry, where they played an active role in the development and growth of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church, making lasting memories and friends in the community.
Dave found great joy in Iowa athletics, where he was a season ticket holder for Iowa men’s basketball. He had a natural talent for creating detailed and intricate pieces, including furniture and wooden replica battleships.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Carol Tiedeman (Baima); his children, Elaine (Jeff) Partridge, Laura (John) Cerutti, and Tim (Michelle) Tiedeman; and his grandchildren, Brooke (Matt) Strode, Ryan Partridge, Justin, Nicholas, Amanda, and Rachel Cerutti. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Quinn and Riley Strode.
Dave is also survived by his sister-in-law, Sue Tiedeman, and will be remembered fondly by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Lucille Tiedeman, and his brother, Donald Tiedeman.
A Celebration of Life visitation will be held on May 2nd at 9:00 AM, with mass to follow at 10:00 AM, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 2003 Hassert Blvd., Naperville, Illinois. He will be laid to rest in Bluffton, South Carolina, where he will forever be at peace.
