David H. Gallogly, 83, of Matunuck, Rhode Island, formerly of Norwood in Warwick, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025.  He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Robida) Gallogly and previously the husband of the late Nancy F. (Reed) Gallogly.  Born on March 8, 1942, in Providence, he was the son of the late James P. and Cecile A. (Clarkin) Gallogly.  A three-sport stand-out athlete and class treasurer at La Salle Academy, he attended Brown University.  A member of the Delta Phi fraternity, he was a stalwart defenseman on the varsity ice hockey team for three years.  He scored the first goal for the Bears in the brand-new Meehan Auditorium in December 1961. 

A graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he became a career accountant working for Christiansen and Company, Trust Tax Services, State Street Bank, and his own Tax Preparation firm.  A lifelong resident of the seaside village of Matunuck in South Kingstown, he was a devoted communicant of St. Romuald’s parish.  A former surf lifeguard at multiple beaches, he was the 1962 Rhode Island State Lifeguard skiff race champion.  He loved everything about “Tunie” beach, all facets of ice hockey, but most of all, he was wholly devoted to his family.  

He leaves his son, Lieutenant Colonel Patrick C. Gallogly USMC (retired) and his wife Anna of Colorado Springs, CO, his daughter Kate Gallogly Lowell and her husband Michael of Scituate, RI.  David cherished his four grandsons, Nicholas and Jamie Gallogly and Henry and Aidan Lowell. He was the brother of the late Jane C. McLaughlin.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 at 11:00 am at St. Romuald’s Chapel, 61 Atlantic Ave, Matunuck RI.  Interment will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Peace Dale, RI.
