Marjorie Black Obituary

Marjorie I. Black, 84, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Black was born on March 12, 1941, in Titusville, PA.  She was the daughter of the late Ronald Lore and the late Elizabeth Post Lore.  She was a long-time member the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Orangeburg.  Mrs. Black was a homemaker that took pride in taking care of her family.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing and loved children.  She and her husband also spent many days square dancing.  

Survivors include her husband of 33 wonderful years, James “Jim” Black; children, Virginia Graybill (Clay), Bonnie Rogers (Stephen), Sherrie McElveen, Faith Marsten (Joe); stepchildren, Donna Ross, James V. Black, Jr. (November), Bryan Black, Karen Kubicki, Diana Black (Joe); grandchildren, Rhonda Yelton (Mark), Heather Bailey, Christopher McVicker, Aaron McElveen, Ryan Morris, Kayla Stewart (Andrew), Makiah Otalora (Aaron), Aleesia Marsten; step-grandchildren, Thomas Ross (C.J.), Shannon Ross, Amanda Bassett (Jessie), Katrina Black, Nichole McFadden, Bryan Black, Jr., Krystal Black, Annabelle Kubicki, Savannah Black and numerous great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Black was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Audeene Atkins, Mildred All,  her brothers, Robert Lore and Roy Lore and her step-grandson, Quintin Kubicki.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2740 Broughton Street, Orangeburg.  Bishop Brian Zingmark will be officiating.  Burial will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, S.C. 29229.

Memorials may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2740 Broughton Street, Orangeburg, S.C. 29115.
