Eric Shawn Brock, age 52, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025, at his home in Huntington, West Virginia.
Eric was born December 29, 1972, in Hinton, West Virginia, a son of Hazel and Bonnie Scarbro Brock.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Bonnie Scarbro Brock; his biological father, Jackie Lee ("Jack") Patrick, and one sister, Jeanie Lee (Patrick) Meador; he is survived by his biological mother, Hilda Tolliver, of Beckley, WV; three sisters, Melba Williams, of Pontiac, MI, Joyce Mehlhoff of Jacksonville, FL, and Jewel Patrick, of Spartanburg, SC; one brother, Noel Brock of Canton, MI; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including one special nephew, Gregory Kyle Brock ("Little Greg") (who Eric helped raise along with his brother Gregory Steve Brock, a single father).
Eric grew up in the mountains of Raleigh County, West Virginia, and was a proud graduate of Clear Fork High School (where he played football). Eric also attended Glenville State University and Mountain State University. Eric also boxed in high school and was trained by "Fast" Eddie Williams of Artie, West Virginia, whom he held in high regard. Eric is listed among those to be inducted into the West Virginia Sports Legends Hall of Fame and enshrined in the Artie Museum this summer for being a part of Eddie's boxing club. Eric loved to spend time outdoors. Eric spent countless hours fishing and hunting. Eric also loved to watch NASCAR racing (his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt, Sr.), the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the West Virginia University Mountaineers. Eric was a proud retired coal miner but also worked for several years in the construction industry traveling all over the United States doing trim carpentry in high end hotels and various other commercial buildings. Humorous, quick-witted, courageous, strong, genuine and compassionate, Eric was a kind, generous man who blessed those around him and always offered to help family and friends any way he could. Eric's humor always kept those around him laughing. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing stories and laughing, and often provided comfort and encouragement to those he loved.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 29th, 2025, from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 29, 2025, 2:00 PM at Melton Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jerry Lawrence officiating. Burial will follow at the Brock Family Cemetery in Clear Creek.
