Alda Blanche Jeffery passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025 at the age of 93, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Belize, British Honduras on August 17, 1931.
Alda immigrated to the United State in 1946 and fell in love with her new home, New Orleans. She worked as an Executive Secretary and enjoyed bookkeeping. She especially loved her time living and working in the French Quarter for many years. Alda also had a love of the beach and fishing. Some of her happiest times came when she had a fishing pole in her hands! She was passionate about football, family card games, and trips to the casino. Alda also loved to travel and made several trips throughout Europe and the United States. Her idea of a perfect meal - a cold beer and a dozen or two raw oysters. She was always game for a glass of bubbly!
Alda is preceded in death by her mother Nina Hulse Jeffery, her sister Gloria and brother-in-law Charles Spansel, Sr. She is survived by: nephews Charlie Spansel, Jr (Jan) and Bill Spansel (Ginger); nieces Sue Leguluche (John), Nina Borrouso (Lonnie), Lisa Saladino and Maria Thomas, and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
As Alda requested, a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 25 at 11:00 at Greenwood Cemetery, 5190 Canal Blvd. New Orleans, LA 70124.
