Born on December 21st, 1951, Elise, being the oldest of seven in a devoted Catholic family, paved the way for her siblings. Thanks to her parents, she learned French at an early age, but when she was unable to communicate with her American friends, her parents stopped teaching it to her (and thus none of the other siblings had the experience!) She was a child of the Sixties with all that entailed including losing her way for a while. She found her way back to the Catholic Church in her late thirties and, when Erik and Jon were born, focused on a spiritual light to raise the boys and build a life around the strength of her beliefs. It was so important to her that she home schooled them through their high school years. She learned to play percussion so she could join her sons in the local symphony. She is responsible for the fine men that Erik and Jon have become.
She was very active in her Church, spending countless hours singing in the choir, taking care of the landscaping and working on the interior. Her Catholic faith guided her and provided her comfort for the rest of her days.
She was a die-hard Republican and could best anyone in any conversation due to her competent grasp of current events. She always had a great story to tell, often of experiences she had growing up. A great listener, Elise absorbed any issues, problems and ideas brought to her, and then thoughtfully provided advice she believed in. She had a sense of "wonder" in things. She didn't want to know how a movie scene was made, or how something that she found impressive or beautiful worked - she just wanted to look at things with marvel and amazement.
She loved to bake, making a mean bread; running was her passion, going out for two-mile runs almost every day. She was very artistic; there are numerous wonderful paintings and stained glass in her home and in those of her siblings that will long be cherished.
Elise was a devoted wife, mother and sister. She will be greatly missed.
