Mrs. Vera Bragg Griffin, 84, of Jacksonville, passed away at her home on Thursday, March 20, 2025. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Edgar Roger Griffin; son, David Griffin; daughter, Tammy Griffin Padgett (Raymond); grandchildren, Heather Griffin-Fulmer (Eric) and Hunter Griffin (Kimberly); three great-grandchildren, Owen Fulmer, Amellia Griffin, and Ethan Fulmer; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ruby Lee Bragg; brothers, Bobby Bragg, Jimmy Bragg, Charlie Bragg, and Mickey Bragg; and their beloved dog, Griff.
Vera met her husband, Roger, in Blue Mountain at the "Anniston Condominiums", where they were both living at the time. From the very beginning, Roger knew she was the one, telling her he loved her right away. The two married in 1958 and welcomed their son, David, in Montgomery in 1959.
As a Navy family, they moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where Roger was stationed, and in 1961, they welcomed their daughter, Tammy. Over the next 20 years, their family traveled across the United States, following Roger’s military assignments and embracing the adventure of life together.
She worked as a decorator for Home Interior and Home & Gardens for over 15 years and was a talented cook who could make anything, especially Roger’s favorite—butterbeans and cornbread.
She was a devoted member of Word Alive (WAIO), where she actively participated in the church’s cookie ministry, welcoming new visitors with homemade treats.
Vera was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed.
