With great sadness we are saying goodbye to our beloved sister, Katina Siopis, who passed peacefully on Thursday March 20 at her sister’s home surrounded by her loving family following a brief illness.
Born in Karidohori, Serron, Greece, she was the daughter of the late Ilias and Eleni “Helen” Siopis. In 1970 Katina immigrated to the United States as a teenager with her family and settled in Peabody where she has lived for the past 55 years.
She worked at Salem Shoe and Pete’s Laundry and helped her sister Barbara at her pizza place. Katina enjoyed all the holidays with the family, especially Easter in the backyard.
The family would like to thank the staff from Care Dimensions in Danvers for their care and professionalism which made her stay at her sister’s home more comfortable and peaceful.
The family would also like to thank her caregiver Dale, her nurses Halley and Bob, her niece Sophia and sister-in-law Kassiani for their outstanding and compassionate care. The family is deeply and forever grateful that Katina had such an amazing team helping to care for her.
Katina is survived by her brother Argiris “Edy” and his wife Kassiani Siopis, her sisters Barabra Lazarides, Soultana Kotsali of Greece, and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Stefanos and his wife Vicki and George and his wife Debbie Siopis.
A visitation will be held at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, 5 Paleologos St., Peabody, on Monday March 24 from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM followed by her Funeral Service at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
