Juanita H Hougland Obituary

Juanita H. Hougland, peacefully left this world on March 20, 2025, at 3:05 PM at Norton Clark Hospital. Born on February 28, 1932, in Austin, IN, Juanita was the cherished daughter of Robert Lee and Grace (Coker) Hill.


Juanita was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George W. Hougland, whom she married on July 13, 1951, at the Scottsburg First Christian Church. 


Juanita’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and love. A graduate of Austin High School class of 1950, she built a successful career as an executive assistant at Liberty National Bank and later served as the personal secretary to Jack Morgan. Her sharp intellect, organizational skills, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she worked with.


As a member of the Scottsburg First Christian Church and the PSI Iota XI Sorority, Juanita exemplified a life of faith and service. She found joy in sewing, cooking, and watching cooking shows. She was an avid reader who cherished time spent with her family, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.


Juanita is survived by her two devoted children, Lisa (Mike) Lytle of Lexington, IN, and Jeff (Trudy) Hougland of Scottsburg, IN. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Jason (Shanon) Hougland, Derek (Bonnie) Hougland, Brandon (Amanda) Lytle, and Mikaela (Matt) Barger; and her great-grandchildren, Eli Hougland, Lila Hougland, Jace Barger, Rhett Lytle, Colton Barger, Mack Hougland, Remy Lytle, and Wesley Hougland.


She was also preceded by her parents Robert Lee & Grace (Coker) Hill and her son, Michael Hougland.


Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Gary Satterly on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at 3:00 PM at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Scottsburg, IN. A graveside service will follow at Scottsburg Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM on the same day to pay their respects and share memories.
