Eva Marie (Nordby) Peterson, was born January 13, 1968, to Larry Dale and Anita Louise (McCart) Nordby at Coleridge, Nebraska. She departed this life on March 20, 2025, at Hastings, Nebraska at the age of 57 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Eva received her formal education attending the Ewing public schools, graduating in 1986. Shd then attended Wayne State College where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education. While attending college Eva met her first husband, Alan James. She taught school at Rushville, Nebraska for a period of time and she also did many other jobs in her life path. She possessed a passion for music and laughter. She was a talented vocalist as well as playing the clarinet.

She developed a special relationship with her sister-in-law, Paula, and her family. Eva loved the Nebraska Husker football team and she was “Go Big Red” even when she lived out of state. She loved everyone, especially children. She was employed as an elementary school teacher, then as a social service worker. She was a house mother in North Carolina for a period of time, which included taking children on a Disney World trip!

Eva also demonstrated patience in the ability to help people in the customer service field. She was an avid chef and sold Pampered Chef products for many years. Through a chance encounter she met the love of her life, John Peterson, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. They were united in holy union in 2023. During this time she cherished moments spent with John including gardening, canning and cooking. Eva loved her occasions spent on the back of John’s motorcycle. During this span she especially loved being with her son-in-law, James, and daughter-in-law, Ariel, and grandson, Ryan. Ryan was a true blessing to Eva.

Preceding her in death were parents; her first husband, Alan James; Larry McCart and wife, Janice; uncle, Darrell Nordby and wife, Thelma; and uncle Dean Nordby and wife Carol.

Surviving are her husband, John Peterson; James, Ariel and Ryan; brothers, Everett and Flora Nordby; Ed and Mary Nordby; Eric Nordby and Elliot and Kim Nordby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

A Celebration of Life was Saturday, 1:00 pm, March 29, 2025, at the Christian Church in Edgar with the Rev. David King officiating.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
