A funeral service for Kenneth W. Wright, age 68, of Newark, will be held at 11am. on Monday, March 24, at The Newark Chapel of Henderson-Van Atta-Stickle Funeral & Cremation Service, 59 N. Fifth Street, Newark, with Pastor Cory Campbell, officiating. Burial will follow at New Lexington Cemetery, with military honors. Calling hours will be held the same day as the service from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born October 9, 1956 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late William Orville and Barbara E. (Nelson) Wright.
Ken was a proud Vietnam veteran and served his country in the United States Army, specializing in nuclear weapon maintenance. A graduate of Newark High School, Class of 1974, he enlisted in the Army shortly after graduation and later continued his service in the Army Reserve. Ken worked for International paper for almost 30 years.
On August 1, 1998, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Caw, and together they built a life filled with adventure, family, and cherished memories. An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in fishing, camping and hunting with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed exploring the open road on his motorcycle, as well as life on the lake, jet skiing and boating. He loved to travel. A lifelong fan of live music, he enjoyed attending concerts and could often be found watching WWE on Monday and Thursday nights.
Above all, he was a devoted family man who took great pride in his role of husband, dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. His kindness, strength and stubborness will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn F. Wright; three daughters, Traci (Steve) Wilson, Luvdisa (Joshua) Glover, Lucy (Ryan) Roback; thirteen grandchildren, Justina (Jake) Lagace, Shelby Steele, Brady (Caitlin) Wilson, Lexie (Derek) Baker, Christopher Steele, Kaitlyn Wilson, Caleb Glover, Clayton Glover, Payton Roback, Mackenzie Meadows (Shane Hubbell), Morgan Meadows, Madison Meadows, Conner Roback, Jace and Jayden; great grandchildren, Camden, Eleanor, Riley, Elizabeth, Leanna, Layla, Beau, Kynlee, Charlotte Grace; a sister, Linda (John) Loy; nephew, Brian Holland; niece, Karla Holland; father-in-law, Robert Caw, Sr. and numerous other family members.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason Smith; mother-in-law, Lorena Hannah; son-in-law, James Meadows; Sister-in-law, Gloria Brokaw; and two great-grandchildren, Lainey Kay and Sawyer Rose.
