Christine Mary Vidal née Brandis passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on March 20, 2025. Christine was born on March 23, 1953, in Newark, New Jersey to the late Teddy M Brandis and Steffie Brandis. After graduating East Side High School in 1971, Christine (Chris) married her loving husband Manuel (Manny) G Vidal on September 7, 1974, and began raising her beautiful family. In 1995 Christine graduated Kean University and became a well-loved Special Education teacher for the Newark Board of Education. After she retired in 2005, Manny and Chris moved to Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania then later moved to Mt Bethel, Pennsylvania where they currently resided. Chris and Manny spent their retirement enjoying their beautiful grandchildren and traveling extensively in their RV around the country. A member of the Jersey Gems, Penn Coachmen, Bay Travelers RV clubs, and The Family RV Association, Chris enjoyed seeing new places and socializing with her fellow campers. Christine adored her grandchildren; they were her heart.  When not traveling, “Grammy” spent as much time as possible with them enjoying watching their sporting events, having summer pool fun and just lots of quality time together.  Chris was an avid gardener,  adored hummingbirds, and was lovingly referred to as “The Pierogi Angel” for making the best Polish Pierogi in the world. 

Christine is survived by her beloved husband Manuel G Vidal, her loving children Michael S Vidal and his wife Patricia A Vidal of Point Pleasant, Meagan Vidal Taylor of Warren County, her beautiful grandchildren James M Vidal of Point Pleasant and Josephine A Taylor of Warren County, as well as her loving brother Gregory J Brandis and his wife Rita K Brandis of Manahawkin. 

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday March 25, 2025 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Layton’s Home for Funerals, 250 Lacey Rd, Forked River, New Jersey 08731.  A public visitation will be offered at the funeral home at 8:30 am on Wednesday March 26, 2025 followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 am at St Pius X Catholic Church, 300 Lacey Rd, Forked River, New Jersey.  In respect of Christine’s wishes, she will be privately cremated and eternally laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington, New Jersey.
