Maria Ester Gamez passed away on March 20, 2025, in Alice, Texas. Ester was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Arturo Gamez; her loving parents, Alonzo and Cecilia Salinas; and her sister, Emma Perez. 

Her memory will be forever honored and cherished by her surviving family. She leaves behind her children, Elda Salinas (Johnny), Arturo Gamez (Debbie), Gilbert Gamez (Alice), Norma Escudero (Jorge), and Melly Guerra (J.R.). Ester's legacy also lives on through her sister, Tina Salinas, her 13 grandchildren, and her 24 great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply.

A woman of many passions, Ester found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved traveling with her husband to visit family. Bingo nights were a highlight of her week, and she could often be found enjoying her favorite meal at Whataburger, a testament to her love for life's delights. Above all, Ester cherished the time spent seeing her grandchildren participate in school activities, watching them grow, and flourish.

Maria Ester Gamez will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a feisty “mama bear”putting her family first. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family, a guiding light for generations to come. Rest in peace, dear Ester, until we meet again

Services for Ester will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Trevino Funeral Home, located at 120 E. Front St., Alice TX. The family will celebrate her life starting at 9:00 AM, followed with the Holy Rosary and Liturgy of the Word to begin at 10:00 AM.
