Randolph Clarence “Big Randy” Schaub, age 79 of Lake passed away on March 20, 2025 at his home surrounded by his three sons and daughter in law, Dalia Schaub.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life Service and luncheon in Randy’s honor will be held at the Lake Eagles Aerie #3761, 8460 W. Ludington Dr., Lake, MI 48632 on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 12:00 pm. Uncle Roy Blanchard will officiate. Randy will be laid to rest in Garfield Township Cemetery. Randy was born in Flint to Ernest Randolph and Loretta Mae (Thompson) Schaub on October 27, 1945. He attended Flushing High School. On August 31, 1963, he was united in marriage to Eathel Elizabeth Blanchard. Together they raised three sons. In 1994 Randy married Denise Paulson at the Bethany Baptist Church in Lake. Randy worked several jobs including yard foreman for Seiter Brothers Lumber Company in Clare as well as other lumber companies in Flint and Flushing, truck driver for Genesee Wholesaler, on oil rigs, and eventually for Garfield Township Cemetery sexton until his retirement. Randy was a member of the Lake Eagles, the Lake Rod & Gun Club, Lake Community Association, Cooks Landing Association, 8 Point Lake Association and the Moose Lodges in Evart and Flint. He loved boating, fishing, hunting, and driving his golf cart around 8 Point Lake to visit neighbors with his beloved lab, Trixie.
Randy is survived by his ex-wife Eathel Schaub of Lake, three sons, Charles “Chuck” E. (Dalia) Schaub of Sanford and Chuck’s children; Becky (Ryan), Tori (Tucker), Andrew (Bella), Vanessa (Adam) and Valorie, his son Randolph K. “Randy” (Lisa) Schaub of Potterville and their children; Randy (Whitney), Justin (Kimberly), Sondra, Chris, Tony, Ashley (Brandon), Mike (Taylor), Brandon (Cat), Shawn (Alisha), his son Curtis L. Schaub (Susan Carpenter) of Lake and Curtis’ children; Harris (Sami), Alyssa (Daniel) and Laurren (Dennis), Big Randy’s stepchildren, Wesley Wright and Natalie Wright; acquired daughters Ashley Schaub, Shelly Salas and Christina Schaub, 34 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, close niece Lori Mott, as well as many other nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Randy was preceded in death by his parents, brother Harry Schaub, sister Diane LaPorte, ex-wife Denise, and his best friend, Trixie.
