Mable Janke Biegert in rural Geary country; and passed away on March 20th, 2025 at Abilene memorial hospital Abilene Kansas.
She attended the one room Rubin grade school, and graduated from high school in Chapman
class of 1954. She attended and was a member of Lyona Methodist Church as a child, with all of her aunts, uncles, and cousins.
After high school she worked at Duckwalls (Alco) office for a number of years, and married Joe Minick in 1958. After marriage they lived on their farm south of Enterprise, and also worked at Ehrsam Co where Joe was employed in Enterprise. After their kids were born (Dan and Kristine), she was a homemaker while Joe farmed and ran a shop.
She was co-owner of the Kitchen Cupboard health food store in Enterprise and later Abilene in the 1970s.
In 1996 started a Quilt-fabric store in Abilene and also sold fabric and quilting supplies online, doing business internationally, and making new friends in the process. Also a founding member of the "End of the Trail Quilters Guild" that originally met in her fabric store.
Helen spent free time making numerous quilts, wall hangings, sewing, crocheting and knitting. She had a love of reading (especially Amish and pioneer stories) that she instilled to her children, loved planting flowers and having numerous colors adorn the yard throughout the year. Always a special cat or two would reside with her and Joe. Children and infants were special to her, and she spent many years volunteering in the nursery at First Christian Church in Abilene, where they were members. Her grandchildren and great grand children were a great pleasure and enjoyment to her.
She was preceded in death by her brother Harold Biegert, her parents, and a great-grandson King J. Hamilton. She leaves behind her husband Joe of the home, their son Dan Minick (Sherri) of Manhattan KS, daughter Kristine Sommers (Christian) of Abilene. Grandchildren Jordan Minick, Cheyenne Minick (Jerome Forbes) and Curtis and Alexis Minick, as well as twelve great-grandchildren.
