Services for Agnes “June” Hendrix Melancon will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 in the Chapel of Hixson Brothers, Alexandria with Dr. Cliff Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park. The family requests that visitation be observed Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Hixson Brothers, Alexandria from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Mrs. Melancon, 85, of Alexandria passed from this life, Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Matthews Memorial Nursing Home. June retired from Professional Home Health after 30 years of serving her community as a Registered Nurse. After retirement she taught water aerobics at Louisiana College. She was a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Allen “Jimmy” Melancon; parents, Jimmy and Lucille Hendrix; sister, Beverly Hendrix Hayen and grandson, Caleb Melancon. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Valerie Melancon Klein and husband, Shannon; son, Steven Melancon; grandchildren, Rylee Klein and Steven Melancon, II; several nieces and grandnieces and grandnephews.
