Dennis H. Leggett Obituary

Mr. Dennis H. Leggett, 89, went to his new home in Heaven on Saturday, December 29, 2018. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 3 PM in the Belvoir Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by his pastor, Rev. Henry Parker. Burial will follow in the Leggett Family Cemetery. Mr. Leggett was born November 5, 1929 in Pitt County and lived all of his life in the Belvoir community. He married Lucille Hobgood, the love of his life, for 60 years until her death in 2009. He farmed and worked as a carpenter all of his life until his health declined. He and his wife were charter members of the Belvoir FWB Church. Dennis enjoyed: spending time with his family, hunting, watching westerns, and animal television programs. In addition to his wife, Mr. Leggett was preceded in death by his parents, William Augustus and Mary Bet Bullock Leggett, brothers, Robert Leggett and Ervin ”Sam” Leggett, and sister, Louise Crisp. He is survived by son, Dennis Leggett, Jr. of Greenville; daughters, Peggy Leggett Gaynor and husband Bobby of Greenville, Joan Leggett Manning and husband Harper of Belvoir and Vickie Leggett Manning and husband Glenn of Belvoir; grandchildren, Todd Leggett and wife Diana of Winterville, Mitzi Gaynor Overton and husband Chad of Rolesville, and Nigel Gaynor of Georgia; Hunter Manning and wife Kim of Belvoir, Crystal Manning Streeter and husband, Herman, of Greenville, great-grandchildren, Landen House, Kailey, Hunt, and Hayden Manning, Brent and Chase Overton, Justin Lane, Kevin Gaynor, Nicholas, Gavyn, and Madelyn Gaynor, Brooke and Summer Streeter, and Marisa and Isaac Crisp; and a brother, Dallas Leggett and wife, Jan, of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Mary Frances Leggett and Jenny Leggett. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Belvoir Free Will Baptist Church, 3695 NC 33 West, Greenville, NC 27834. He was greatly loved and will be kept forever in our hearts.
